Students are fully responsible for the books issued to them including any losses and/or damages to ALL materials borrowed. Students are to report any damages within 24 hours of checkout.
Billable book damages may include liquid damage, mold, and/or broken spines. Billable chrome book damages may include screens, cameras, keys and housing.
Per the California Education Code, Section 48904 & 48904.3, the parent or guardian of a pupil shall be held liable for school district property.
Cover all textbooks right away. Paper is still the recommended method. Cloth covers are acceptable only if they are large and stretchy enough to accommodate the textbook. A cloth cover that is too small may result in spine damage. Do not use adhesive covers or tape directly onto the book. Use a thick marker to write your name on the
Textbooks and chrome books are uniquely barcoded to ensure return to the correct borrower should they become lost or misplaced, and are necessary to clear your account. Missing barcodes incur a $5 replacement cost.
Materials are not to be left unattended on lunch tables, in locker bays or dropped off outside on the concrete at any time to avoid loss or damage - especially to chrome books. Be reminded that broken screens carry a repair cost of $95 and lost chrome books are $320. Materials are to be properly stored when not in use. Unattended items will be confiscated and taken to the library for identification.
Remember to check the Library right away in the event your textbooks or chrome books become lost or misplaced.
DO NOT IGNORE accidental damages to any materials, bring them to the library right away. Oftentimes a crisis can be averted by quick attention to the situation.
Should it be necessary for you to replace a textbook, you have the option of either paying the replacement cost, or purchasing a replacement on your own. A replacement textbook will be accepted provided the following criteria is met:
1) the replacement textbook must be the exact copy of our current edition. This will only be ensured by matching the ISBN number. Please contact Mrs. Osejo in the library for this number.
2) The replacement must be in good condition, with binding tight and pages clean. Replacement textbooks containing school stamps, names or markings indicative of any school ownership will NOT be accepted.
